how do they make films in africa without electricity, and how do they stop the villagers from trying to eat the film?

I've only seen two African films, unfortunately. Both by Sembene.

I think I saw his first film, Black Girl, and his last, Moolade (which is very good).

Good questions, watch their flicks and the answer will probably be somewhere in there!

Tsotsi was OK indeed, nothing remarkable. I'd say the same about Moolaadé. That's all the African Cinema i have seen. I am interested in it, but there don't seem to be many good films made there (yet).

It is only a bad attempt at spreading some diversity in the viewings. I am pretty sure no one here would watch even one african movie usually. give it a couple of days and this will be on :plot:

Besides, there are very few available to most people, so it's not very hard to discover the 'essentials'...

What does force have to do with it? If you don't like something ignore it. It's not like it matters if I cry in a corner because no one will see african cinema with me

Have anything other than whining to say? Otherwise, I suggest you do not pollute the thread with bullshit bashing, at least have the courtesy to go off-topic and not whine about the actual topic. (it's not even critique, it's just whine)

Actually, South American cinema is next.

I don't see why Antarctica cinema would be necessary, Africa is about 35 countries (not gonna check it up exactly...), Antarctica is an icy place where about 10000 people live. Some of the african countries create a decent amount of movies each year (Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa). Just because they're not famous don't mean they're bad :?

I'm pretty sure movies from Kairo could be pretty much up to your modern flick standards, considering its a huge city.

I hear Xala is good. I've been meaning to see that for a while now. Lumumba was really good. Does Sheltering Sky count as African Cinema olof? Or do you regard it as frivolous white bullshit as usual?

Looking at the countries, actors and director and such I say it's pretty much just that, frivolous white bullshit...

Haiti is not really africa btw (if we started counting ancestors n shit you could see america is somewhat african and so on  )
