it took me until the penultimate episode of the first season and some absolutely miserable standalone episodes, but I finally - FINALLY - found a standalone episode in Roland that's genuinely 'so bad, it's good', rather than just plain bad. The lawyer from Homicide: Life on the Street plays a retard idiot-savant who spends the entire episode expressing his love for another retard a la The Other Sister...and then periodically gets possessed and kills old crotchety scientists in increasingly bizarre and Friday the 13th-ish ways. Awful. Glorious.

...mythology, please :shoot:

watch first disc of season 2, i cant remember why i was set on watching it all, they were all so completely shitty beside the awesome aliens in puerto rico one (which had the greatest bad f/x in the 70s flashback, and awesome early 90s pre-microsoft computer stuff  )

 sounds great.

anyway, finished the 1st season - in its entirety. And I'm glad I did watch every episode, despite some REALLY awful standalones, 'cuz those just made the mythology seem that much more awesome - WHICH IT IS.

...OK, so maybe Deep Throat's dying-breath "trust....noooo oneeeee" was cheesy as all hell, but still, just how the entire season's worth of lies and secrets and misinformation and shady characters and suspicion basically all led up to that one moment of Scully finding the alien in deep-freeze was epic, and about as great a pay-off as you can ask for in a seasons'-length story arc. Can't wait to see where this goes next :praise:

and you were right wig, the season premier with the aliens in Puerto Rico was all kinds of epic :praise: :praise: :praise:
(though the 70s flashback of Samantha's abduction = *rotfl* )

man, what's the deal with these first few standalones from season 2 all of a sudden having a pro-environmental message? I'm all about the environment, but first the tapeworm man episode is all about Chernobyl and the dangers of nuclear fallout, then in the very next episode fucking pesticides are to blame when people see atm machines and microwaves and cellphones telling them to kill people. Standalones... :shake:

on the bright side, though, in this latest pesticide episode, I had another deja vu moment like I had for Fallen Angel in season 1! The episode was absolutely awful, but I had glancing images and memories flooding back from way back in my youth of the "climax" as the J.F. Sebastian guy from Blade Runner was shooting his sniper gun from atop the tower, complete with Homicide/Godard-style jump cuts. sooooo lame, but just like before, soooo awesome to suddenly remember that I'd seen all this before, back when I was too ignorant/young/turned on the channel too late to comprehend it :rotfl:

I think I lost interest in X-Files, I'll just watch the unwatched seasons of Curb instead.

as lousy as the pesticide episode was, though, it's always a delight to see the Lone Gunmen, especially Frohike's ultra-creepy perving of Scully, even when she's not in the room :icecream:

but you're right, only the cool people watch Candyman influence people's dreams so that they burn to a crisp or get shot 17 times, but only internally :snob:

and clearly tuco is Krychek and olof is the Cigarette-Smoking Man.
